Prerequisite: Glass Fusing
Cold working is any process that changes glass in its natural or room temperature state. These techniques can include sandblasting, grinding, sanding, drilling, cutting, engraving or polishing the glass. Usually this is done during the preparation or finishing stages of your glass fusing process. The glass needs to be at room temperature to attempt these methods.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies as they are not included in the class fees. Supplies are available for purchase at the Cape Coral Art Center Supply Store located in building 2 open Monday thru Saturday 9:00am thru 4:00pm. Current students receive a 10% discount. Call 239 574-0802 for more information.
Drop-In studio times are offered at a nominal fee for students enrolled in the current class session. Dates, times, and costs are posted in the glass studio after the first week of class in each session.
Project to bring on the first day of class: Fused glass piece that you have created that needs finishing. There are small sample glass pieces to work with if you do not have your own work.
Supply List:
- Loose grit in 4 grit sizes (available at the art center) 80, 220, 400 & 600
- Black marker (the largest one they can find)
- Wide masking tape
- N95 mask
- A full fused flat piece of artwork (not slumped) no larger than 10x10
Optional supplies:
- Hand sanding pads
- Clean Shield
- Plastic water heater trays (set of 4 – 1 for each grit size) – to use at home
- Small pieces of flat clear glass (window glass) to use at home
- Rubber gloves
- Safety glasses (if using the tile saw)
The Art Center wants you to learn while having fun and staying safe! Please wear closed toed shoes and keep a pair of safety glasses and respirator handy.
