This class is for students who are just beginning their watercolor journey. They have had no prior experience or very little experience with watercolors.

Students will be introduced to a variety of techniques used in transparent watercolor painting such as mixing, blending, and applying colors, color values and characteristics. Students will learn how to add texture to painting s using various tools. Students will create compositions using these techniques in landscapes, seascapes, floral, abstracts and more. There will be a weekly painting project that will be started in class and completed at home. There will be a class critique the following week.

This class is for students who have some watercolor experience but still need help in their abilities and understanding with watercolors. They will have needed to take at least one six-week beginner’s class.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Watercolors with Lisa Burke

Students will focus on a variety of painting and brush techniques used in painting while working from a wide variety of subject matter. Color mixing, composition and design, relating specifically to watercolor paintings, will be taught. Students may work on their own paintings, with practical advice offered, or work on a painting related to the class demo.

This advanced class is designed for students who have experience with acrylic painting. Refining and exploring techniques, artistic styles and using a variety of tools, media and paint will be the focus of this class. Students and instructor discussion and sharing experience is the mainstay for continued growth and development.

Every student in this class will emerge with new skills. Each class is packed with information and guidance to help you reach your highest potential!

This class is designed for the beginning student. This class will explore handbuilding techniques, pinch, slab and coil, while also introducing the mechanical process of throwing on the wheel. Students will also learn the basics of how to finish their work through glazes and various firing methods. Advanced students are also welcome.

An intermediate class created for students advancing in pottery skills. This class includes throwing on the wheel, slab, coil building, glazing, and firing methods. Experienced potters will learn about special glazes and the firing technique of the ancient Japanese art form, Raku. Known for its beautiful luster, unusual colors, and free form designs obtained during the firing process.

Learn form and function in this class designed to improve skills by understanding your relationship with clay. Raku is not available in this course.

Learn the basics of hand-built pottery. Students will use handbuilding techniques including pinch pots, coil building and slab construction to create unique functional and sculptural pieces. Experimentation with color, texture and pattern is highly encouraged. A variety of surface decoration techniques are introduced in addition to glazing. Experienced ceramic students wishing to pursue independent practice to enhance their skills or add to their body of work are welcome. Raku is not available in this course.

The primary focus of this class is wheel throwing with additional support on hand building enhancements. There will be three new projects demonstrated in each session. Students interested in wheel throwing will receive individual coaching and demonstrations.

Glass beadmaking is fun! This all levels class will introduce beginners to proper safety, basic constructs like dots, twisties and stringers, and of course beads. Intermediate and advanced students will enjoy the challenge of being introduced to sculpture, silver glass and other complex techniques that will help hone their skills as lampworkers.

This class is for the intermediate to advanced student. Glass fusing is a challenging yet exciting class. Students will learn how to slump, create frit projects and how to fire glass kilns with instructor supervision. You can create an array of items from beautiful jewelry to unique frit paintings!
